Attorneys!

  • New Jersey attorneys are assigned to one of two New Jersey CLE compliance groups. Compliance Group 1, attorneys born January 1 - June 30, will certify compliance in even-numbered years and Compliance Group 2, those born July 1 - December 31, will certify compliance in odd-numbered years.
  • New Jersey attorneys must earn (24) credits during their two-year reporting period. Of the (24) credits, (5) need to be in the areas of ethics and/or professionalism, and of those (5) ethics credits, a minimum of (2) must be concentrated in diversity, inclusion, and elimination of bias.
  • New Jersey attorneys may earn One-half (12) of the required 24 CLE credits, including Ethics/Professionalism credits, may be earned through alternate verifiable learning format courses, including online courses.
  • * Under Rule 201:8: Lawyers who do not reside in New Jersey and who do not work in New Jersey on a regular and continuous basis and are licensed in a jurisdiction that allows 100% of their CLE requirement to be earned by alternative verifiable learning formats (self-study) are allowed to satisfy 100% of their New Jersey CLE obligation through our alternative verifiable learning format (self-study) courses.
  • The Supreme Court of New Jersey Board on Continuing Legal Education has approved the National Law Foundation as an Accredited Service Provider of New Jersey CLE for live and recorded ("alternate verifiable learning format") courses.
  • After you complete the course and a brief evaluation, a Certificate of Completion is available for you to view and print. Retain your Certificate for four years as proof of participation if audited by the New Jersey Board on Continuing Legal Education.
  • If you choose to review courses available for other states on this site which DO NOT APPEAR on this page, you may claim 1:1 credit for those courses (up to 12 credits for Compliance Group 2) under New Jersey CLE Reciprocity Regulation 201:4, which reads:
    201:4. Reciprocity. Except for the courses required under BCLE Reg. 201:2, all active lawyers will receive 1:1 credit for courses approved as satisfying the continuing legal education requirements of any other jurisdiction. Lawyers complying with requirement in other states that do not have an ethics/professionalism requirement nevertheless must satisfy the ethics/professionalism requirement set forth in BCLE Reg. 201 to be considered in full compliance with New Jersey’s CLE requirement.
