The New Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) — 3.25 California General Credits

With the expressed intent to improve the just, speedy, and inexpensive determination of actions and proceedings, on April 29, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court approved important changes to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP). These will become effective on December 1, 2015, absent contrary Congressional action, which is extremely unlikely.

In this May 28, 2015 3.3-hour (200-minute) program, Patrick M. Connors, a Professor of Law at Albany Law School, explains these changes and gives valuable practice tips.

Major topics include:
Rule 1: Scope and Purpose
Rule 4: Summons
Rule 8: General Rules of Pleading; Form 30 (Answer Presenting Defenses)
Rule 16: Pretrial Conferences; scheduling; management
Rule 26: Duty to Disclose; general provisions governing discovery
Rule 30: Depositions by Oral Examination
Rule 31: Depositions by Written Questions
Rule 33: Interrogatories to Parties
Rule 34: Procuring Documents, Electronically Stored Information and Tangible Things, or Entering Onto Land, for Inspection and Other Purposes
Rule 37: Failure to make Disclosure or to Cooperate in Discovery; Sanctions
